BASIC PLOT/SUMMARY
In the nature-centric community of La'iku, social status is based off your magical abilities, making the menehune families of this society the higharchy. Pomaika'i descends from a legacy of powerful menehune and was predicted to be the prodigy of two of La'iku's most influential and important menehunes: her mother, Maiele, and father, Ha'aheo. Keiki menehune are supposed to inherit their magical power a couple months before your 13th birthday, and every menehune child goes to 'Imiloa. Pomai's birthday is rounding within the next two weeks and she is worried that she won't inherit her powers. So far, the only thing she clearly inherited from her family is her distinguished good looks and sour attitude. If she doesn't get her powers, she will never be able to do what menehune do: use their skills to build things. She's feeling the pressure, and goes off on her own to see if she can somehow summon her powers. This will be her coming of age adventure.
